At RPC, we take the long view when it comes to products and the environment and our range of recyclable food trays is no exception.
We’re focused on leading science, outstanding design and proven facts around sustainability, carbon footprints and recyclable technology. With our HDPE (high density polyethylene) recyclable food trays, we’ve got a world-class product with the right credentials.
We consider the end-to-end journey and every impact along the way.
Using renewable energy
Our recyclable food trays are extruded and formed with hydro electric generated power in Norway (low Co2/carbon footprint).
Reducing packaging
Our sealed trays are designed so they often don’t need any outer boxes/secondary packaging in bulk format (1-10kg weight of product).
Reducing landfill waste
Our HDPE trays often replace heavier packaging that’s either impossible or more difficult to recycle.
Saying Yes to recycling
Our “food grade”/”food used” trays can be recycled easily up to 10 times.
Reducing transport fuel/CO2
Lightweight trays and a reduced physical design means less energy/Co2 from transportation compared to heavier materials.
Less wasted food
The spoiling of food is a major issue globally. We make our trays lightweight, strong and crack-resistant, so they’re more leak-proof and protect food safety.
Safe & useful end-of-life
Having been recycled to the maximum, our trays can be incinerated to heat schools/ hospitals — producing more energy per ton than fossil fuels and leaving no toxic waste.
Dutch waste and recycling company ESE World has conducted a survey demonstrating that HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) plastic can be recycled and reused at least 10 times without signi cantly degrading properties.
ESE World has for many years used recycled plastic for the production of containers and containers for waste and recyclable materials. With its advanced processes for cleaning, processing, etc., ESE World has made it possible to manufacture recycled plastic products that have the same quality as virgin plastic.
However, a question for ESE World has been how many times you can recycle and reuse the HDPE hard plastic, which is used for sti packaging such as containers, bottles, piles, etc. and for durable and durable products such as pipes, toys, tools, etc.
To determine how often recycled HDPE products can be broken down, processed. ground and then processed into injection moldable HDPE material, ESE World carried out a controlled experiment in its production facilities, which was based on virgin HDPE plastic and checked how often it could be reused. The study was led by ESE World’s plastic specialist and researcher Jeanett Köhn.
After each new reuse process, the HDPE material was analyzed in collaboration with external research institutes, who used advanced control methods.
The investigation showed that HDPE plastic can be reused at least 10 times without degradation, processing, etc., as well as the nal injection molding process, produce some property-changing e ects on the plastic material.
“With life expectancy of 10 to 20 years, for example, such high capacity HDPE containers and containers used for storage and transportation of waste and recyclable materials, this means that sustainable production can be achieved by recycling and reuse the same plastic at least between 100 and 200 years! “,
Writes ESE World.
With our help, one seafood company reduced annual packaging from 600 tons to 295 tons. Switching to our packaging also meant it could be recycled.
It’s the whole story that matters to us, to our customers, and to the environment.
